Take the Pledge

The Zayed Tolerance Pledge

In 2019, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the Zayed Tolerance Pledge — a public, individual act of commitment open to anyone living in or visiting the UAE. It is a statement made in the spirit of the founding father: that tolerance is a personal duty before it is a national policy.

The pledge invites you to commit to a small set of clear undertakings — to reject hatred and injustice, to respect every human being regardless of ability or belief, to wish for others what you wish for yourself, to live in harmony with your community, and to remain open to dialogue and forgiveness.

You can take the pledge on your own, with your colleagues at work, with your class at school, or as a family. The lines of the pledge are listed below.

  1. I pledge to commit to the duty of tolerance.
  2. I pledge to take a firm stand against hatred and injustice.
  3. I pledge to respect and accept every human being, regardless of ability, belief or culture.
  4. I pledge to wish for others what I wish for myself.
  5. I pledge to live in harmony with my community.
  6. I pledge to remain open to dialogue and forgiveness.
  7. I pledge to do my part in building peace for everyone.
  8. I pledge to be kind to those near and far, and to do good for them whenever I can.
  9. I pledge to hold to these values always — the values of Zayed for tolerance and human fraternity.
